Burkina Weave

In 2002 the village Boulma in Burkina Faso became the start of a long number of experiments and initiatives in the universe of the spiral weave.
In Burkina Faso the simple technique was used in hats, sieves, and very light baskets made of millet straw.
Eva Seidenfaden has transformed the technique into willow and used it in many different kinds of baskets. Latest she has lanced a more free form, where different kinds of bark compliment the lines and the spirals have developed into whirls. The movement in these whirls she associates with power, expansion, and opportunity. Not only concerning the level of weaving, but also the potential that life opens when you dare throw yourself in the whirls.
